Carl Furgusson is Vice President Portfolio Strategy at MediaKind. He has over 20 years’ experience working in the video technology industry for television service providers and is an expert in Media Processing, including MPEG-2, MPEG-4 AVC, HEVC and AV1. Prior to his role at MediaKind, Carl has held several senior positions at Vice President level, including TANDBERG Television, where he was VP Product Management for five years, holding special responsibility for advanced video compression solutions. He also held the position of Director of Business Development – Americas, focussing on the development of the company’s share of the US Cable and Broadband markets. At Ericsson, Carl held a number of senior positions, focussing on leading and building product and business development strategies for the TV and Media Solutions areas. Carl is part of a team of inventors with patents in advertising targeting in ABR environments. He graduated in 1992 with a B.Eng. in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from University of Manchester.
